Pattern to 4 Strand Scarf
The 4 Strand Scarf is worked flat on circular needle in brioche stitch with yarn over. It´s worked bottom up, so you start with a few stitches and gradually increase at the sides to shape the scarf into a large triangle.
The scarf is worked with four strands of ITO Sensai in different colors. Before starting, I wound a large ball by combining the four threads, changing colors at different lengths for exciting variation and subtile shading.
Yarn: ITO Sensai by ITO Yarn (60% Mohair, 40% Silk), 240 m / 20 g. Yarn Weight Lace.
Yarn amount and colors: Approx 150 g ITO Sensai in different colors.
Various amounts of the following colors are used: Angora, Aqua, Carrot, Cherry Blossom, Chili Pepper, Cinnamon, Coke, Cream, Crocus, Denim, Enji, Iron Blue, Lilac, Logwood, Moss, Olive, Pale Blue, Pale Blush, Silver, String, and White.
The overview of how the colors are held together is explained is in the pattern.
Measurements: The 4 Strand Scarf is worked in brioche stitch, a technique that makes the scarf more stretchy. All measurements are given with the scarf lying flat—do not stretch the scarf while measuring.
· The scarf measures approx. 150 cm wide (measured from end to end - along the top, over the shoulders) and approx. 54 cm length at the center before the handwash.
· After handwash: approx. 150 cm from end to end (measured along the top edge) and approx. 60 cm lenght at the center.
Recommended needle size: 5.0 mm circular needle, 100 cm or longer. See scarf measurements for guidance.
Gauge: Approx. 17 stitches wide and 34 rows high in brioche stitch with yarn over on 5.0 mm needle = 10 x 10 cm. Choose the correct needle size to obtain the given gauge.
One visible stitch in height equals two rows. The scarf is worked with four strands of ITO Sensai held together.
This is a handmade knitting pattern intended for knitters who enjoy knitting as a hobby.
